GHA broke ground on the new Wooddale Fire Station
February 14, 2012
Construction has begun on the new 8,200 square feet Wooddale Fire Station in East Baton Rouge Parish. It will be located at 150 S. Wooddale Boulevard and will replace the existing fire station on Lobdell Avenue. For the past five years, the Baton Rouge Fire Department has built seven new fire stations. Baton Rouge Fire Chief Ed Smith says the Wooddale fire station is the eighth and final station to be built for the City of Baton Rouge.
The new station employs sustainable and energy saving design concepts, provides picturesque views of the site's mature oak grove, and alignment to the apparatus bay for cross ventilation and easier turning radius for the fire truck drivers. Completion of the $2.3 million facility is schedule for December.
Contractor for the project is Stuart and Company.
