Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center
November 9, 2011
The new building houses 28 beds which will increase the center’s capacity from 103 to 131. In addition to the new dormitory, the expansion includes a new sewer treatment plant, additional parking, and renovations to the main facility’s kitchen.
The new building is a softer, less institutional building with high ceilings and natural light so it will be more residential and bring improved living conditions to the juveniles housed here. The facility provides a safe and restrictive environment for juveniles. The atmosphere of the facility is such that youth will not be physically, emotionally or psychologically injured or damaged by the detention experience.
